En tällä yritä väittää mitään, mutta totean, että asiat voi saada virallisestikin näyttämään siltä miltä niiden haluaa näyttävän.

Tässä tutkimuksessa on joka tapauksessa kiinnitetty huomio siihen, mikä minustakin homoustutkimuksessa on epätieteellistä ja vaikuttaa tarkoitushakuiselta:

"Not one of the 59 studies referenced in the 2005 APA Brief compares a large, random, representative sample of lesbian or gay parents and their children with a large, random, representative sample of married parents and their children. The available data, which are drawn primarily from small convenience samples, are insufficient to support a strong generalizable claim either way. Such a statement would not be grounded in science. To make a generalizable claim, representative, large-sample studies are needed—many of them."

Eli siis: otokset homovanhempien lasten hyvinvointitutkimuksissa ovat (pakostakin) tieteellisessä mittakaavassa todella pieniä, eikä todellista vertailevaa tutkimusta ole tehty.

Vertailun vuoksi: voidaan myös ottaa otos innokkaita lastenkasvattajia heteroiden puolelta, ja saadaan vakuuttelevan tuntuinen mielikuva siitä, että heterot ovat hyviä lasten kasvattajia. Mutta mitä tällä sitten lopulta todistamme?

Otokset ovat olleet pieniä, mutta samansuuntaisia tuloksia saadaan lukuisissa tutkimuksissa eri puolilta maailmaa. Vastakkaisia tuloksia taas ei paljon ole tullut, mikä vahvistaa tätä tulosta.

According to preliminary findings from the world’s largest study on the issue, the children of gay parents are doing equally well or better than the children of straight parents on a number of key health and well-being indicators. (Not that it’s a competition or anything!)

Researchers at Melbourne University in Australia collected data on 500 children across the country and found that kids growing up in gay and straight families matched pretty equally when it came to self-esteem, emotional well-being and the amount of time they spent with parents; but when it came to overall health and family cohesion, the children of gay parents did even better than the national average.

Lead researcher Dr Simon Crouch attributed the findings to gay families fostering open communication as they endure challenges together, which helps children become more resilient. “Because of the situation that same-sex families find themselves in, they are generally more willing to communicate and approach the issues that any child may face at school, like teasing or bullying,” he said.

Vuoden 2005 jälkeen on tehty aikamoinen määrä uusia tutkimuksia jos vain haluaa niihin tutustua.

Kuten odottaa sopii, Vara-Ahvio viittaa Yhdysvaltain republikaanien teekutsuliikkeen nettijulkaisuun ja jopa Ruotsin uusnatsien lehteen saadakseen tukea homofobiselle  sanomalleen.

Ketä tämän pitäisi vakuuttaa?
