/ #155 still waiting for "we are sorry"...

I am so sorry to hear the story. Dear parents, please accept my deepest condolences.

Our son was at LK tehoosasto six years ago, and after the doctors decided he was to die, they put him off respirator and told us that he has only a few hours left. At that point we didn't suspect that they might be wrong, or that forcing us to accept their decision was against the law. We had no right to say "no". Waiting for our son to die was hard enough for us not to think that we could check our rights and look for other opinions, and especially that we should check what is written in hospital papers.

Since our son continued to live for many hours, we were sent to infektio-osasto where he was to die within days. For some reason now doctors state that he was sent to another ward since he didn't need intensive care any more, forgetting that he was to die and thus sent away from teho-osasto, and that he DID need respirator. Without it he lacked oxygen for weeks. General knowledge is that lack of oxygen can cause brain damage, right? Well, not for some doctors who state that little oxygen levels have not harmed our son, without explaining how they came to that conclusion.

We were waiting for our son to die and watching him breathe with trouble for weeks, and not even we have never heard "sorry", what's worse is the hospital's denial of what really happened.

Would you have the strength to admit what you've done? You, meaning a few doctors in question who were the members of the board that sent our son to death. Or tried to, since he's alive but severely handicapped. Fortunately we don't have to face those doctors now but admitting the truth would mean the world to us.
