Ometz LeSarev (Hebrew: אומץ לסרב‎, Courage to Refuse) is an organization of reserve officers and soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) who refuse to serve beyond the 1967 borders, but "shall continue serving in the Israel Defense Forces in any mission that serves Israel's defense." These conscientious objectors refer to themselves as refuseniks a reference to the refusenik Jews of Soviet Russia.

The movement began as a nucleus of 51 reserve officers and soldiers, who in January 2002 published an ad in the Israeli daily Haaretz, which would later come to be known as "The Combatants' Letter". Three years later the number of signatories had reached well over 600.

Courage to Refuse - Combatant's Letter

We, reserve combat officers and soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, who were raised upon the principles of Zionism, sacrifice and giving to the people of Israel and to the State of Israel, who have always served in the front lines, and who were the first to carry out any mission, light or heavy, in order to protect the State of Israel and strengthen it.


We, combat officers and soldiers who have served the State of Israel for long weeks every year, in spite of the dear cost to our personal lives, have been on reserve duty all over the Occupied Territories, and were issued commands and directives that had nothing to do with the security of our country, and that had the sole purpose of perpetuating our control over the Palestinian people.

We, whose eyes have seen the bloody toll this Occupation exacts from both sides.


We, who sensed how the commands issued to us in the Territories, destroy all the values we had absorbed while growing up in this country.


We, who understand now that the price of Occupation is the loss of IDF’s human character and the corruption of the entire Israeli society.


We, who know that the Territories are not Israel, and that all settlements are bound to be evacuated in the end.


We hereby declare that we shall not continue to fight this War of the Settlements.


We shall not continue to fight beyond the 1967 borders in order to dominate, expel, starve and humiliate an entire people.


We hereby declare that we shall continue serving in the Israel Defense Forces in any mission that serves Israel’s defense.


The missions of occupation and oppression do not serve this purpose – and we shall take no part in them.

"The pilots' letter," published on September 24, 2003, was signed by 27 reserve and active duty pilots.[8] One of the signatories was the famous pilot Brigadier General (res.) Yiftah Spector.



The letter was precipitated by the targeted killing of Salah Shehade, leader of Hamas's militant wing, who was killed by a one ton bomb dropped on his residential building along with 14 others.

Pilots decried the large number of civilian casualties caused by Israel's targeted killings as violating the military's ethics code.


In their letter, the pilots stated:


We, veteran and active pilots alike, who served and still serve the state of Israel for long weeks every year, are opposed to carrying out attack orders that are illegal and immoral of the type the state of Israel has been conducting in the territories.

We, who were raised to love the state of Israel and contribute to the Zionist enterprise, refuse to take part in Air Force attacks on civilian population centers.

We, for whom the Israel Defense Forces and the Air Force are an inalienable part of ourselves, refuse to continue to harm innocent civilians.

These actions are illegal and immoral, and are a direct result of the ongoing occupation which is corrupting all of Israeli society.

Perpetuation of the occupation is fatally harming the security of the state of Israel and its moral strength.


The signatories clarified that they do not reject military service in the IDF, only targeted killings of individuals

A former IDF pilot and current refusenik is once again making headlines after a group of Israeli left-wing activists spray painted graffiti at the remnants of the Warsaw Ghetto.

The controversial graffiti was spray painted in both Hebrew and English.

The Hebrew called for the liberation of all ghettos.

Below the Hebrew, English graffiti was spray painted, calling to “Free Gaza and Palestine.”

One of the activists who were involved in spray painting the graffiti is former Israeli Air Force pilot Yonatan Shapira.

Shapira is known for his leftist opinions, and in 2003 he authored the infamous Pilot’s Letter in which Israeli pilots refused to participate in flying missions over Palestinian territories.

Suicide now top killer of Israeli soldiers



For the first time, suicide has become the leading cause of death in the Israeli armed forces, according to an Israeli newspaper report.

Quoting statistics from Israeli army's rehabilitation division, the Hebrew daily Maariv said that in 2003, the number of Israeli soldiers who committed suicide was significantly higher than those killed during military incursions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

A total of 43 Israeli soldiers took their own lives last year compared to 30 soldiers killed in intifada-related hostilities, said the report.

This represents a 30% increase in the number of suicides over the 2002 figure of 31.

Additionally, in 2003, 32 Israeli soldiers died of various illnesses, 27 were killed in traffic accidents or during vacation and 10 died in traffic accidents while on duty.

Nine soldiers were killed during training and practice exercises and in course of military operations. A further eight soldiers died due to other reasons.

This year's suicide figure is just as disturbing. The newspaper said 15 Israeli soldiers have killed themselves in the first six months of 2004.


Soldiers psychologically scarred

The publication of the Maariv report appears to have taken the Israeli military by surprise. An army spokesman said the fatality figures may have been leaked by unauthorised sources within the army or the Ministry of Defence.

The Israeli army denies as a matter of course any connection between army "excesses" in the occupied territories and the phenomenon of suicides among soldiers.

Army sources routinely cite more mundane reasons such as emotional crises, bullying and percecution by superiors, and psychological depression.

However, it is widely believed that a significant number of the suicide cases are connected to soldiers' traumatic experiences in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

'Terrible burden'

An Israeli peace activist, said she believed many of the soldiers who went on to take their own lives, simply couldn't live with the moral burden of causing avoidable and unjustified deaths in the occupied Palestinian territories.

"They are ordered to do things that go against their moral values and when they do — because, after all, a good soldier is one who obeys orders, not one who thinks — they are left with this terrible burden which evolves into depression and eventually leads to suicide."

In another incident, which took place earlier this week, an army reserve soldier joined the small but growing list of so-called refuseniks opposed to the continued Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In a letter to his local recruitment officer explaining his reasons for disobeying orders to join his unit in the West Bank, Chaim Feldman accused the Israeli army of committing manifestly criminal acts against innocent Palestinians.

"My letter to you is short and concise. I have no intention of wearing the uniform of this organisation known as the Israeli Defence Forces which fires artillery shells on civilian crowds, including children and old people.

I see no reason why I should join this organisation."

The "conscientious objector" described the IDF as an organisation that defends "fascist settlers breaking the law and uprooting and burning olive trees".

Feldman is likely to be tried and imprisoned for disobeying orders and desertion.

Sabran ja Shatilan verilöyly oli joukkomurha[1], joka tapahtui 16.–18. syyskuuta 1982 Sabran ja Shatilan pakolaisleireissä Länsi-Beirutissa Libanonissa.

Elie Hobeikan, josta myöhemmin tuli kansanedustaja Libanonin eduskuntaan, johtamat Libanonin kristityt falangistijoukot tunkeutuivat Sabran ja Shatilan pakolaisleireille ja surmasivat 700–3 500 palestiinalaista, joukossa naisia ja lapsia. Leirien vartioinnista oli vastuussa Israel, minkä vuoksi silloista puolustusministeri Ariel Sharonia on syytetty velvollisuuksiensa laiminlyönnistä.

 

Tapahtumat

Sitten Ariel Sharon kutsui Israelin kouluttamat ja aseistamat libanonilaiset falangistijoukot "puhdistamaan terroristeista" Sabran ja Shatilan pakolaisleirit. Israelin suunnitelman mukaan Israelin sotilaat kontrolloisivat pakoilaisleirien ympäristöä ja tarjoisivat logistista apua, kun falangistit tunkeutuisivat leireihin, etsisivät PLO:n taistelijat käsiinsä ja luovuttaisivat heidät Israelille.

Israelille ei kuitenkaan luovutettu ainuttakaan henkilöä, taisteluja ei käyty ja leireiltä ei löydetty aseita. Belgiassa käydyssä sotarikosoikeusjutussa Ariel Sharonia vastaan esitetyissä todisteissa väitetään, että PLO:n läsnäolo leireillä oli Israelin keksimä peitetarina.[3] Sharonin ohjeet falangisteille osoittavat, että Israelilla oli täydellinen kontrolli alueella.

Israelin joukot olivat piirittäneet ja sulkeneet leirit ja asettaneet tarkkailupisteitä korkeiden talojen katoille 15. syyskuuta. Seuraavana päivänä Israel ilmoitti, että se kontrolloi kaikkia Beirutin tärkeimpiä kohteita. Päivän mittaan Israelin asevoimat tapasi falangistijohtajia järjestelläkseen operaation yksityiskohtia. Seuraavina kahtena yönä illansuusta pitkälle yöhön Israelin joukot valaisivat valoammuksin leirejä avustaakseen falangisteja.

16. syyskuuta 1982 iltana falangistijoukot Elie Hobeikan johdolla tunkeutuivat leireihin. Seuraavien 36–48 tunnin aikana falangistit teurastivat pakolaisleirien asukkaita Israelin vartioidessa leirien ulospääsyreittejä.

Noin 150 falangistin joukko kokoontui kello 16 iltapäivällä ja nämä asein, veitsin ja kirvein varustautuneet joukot siirtyivät leireihin kello 18. Falangistiupseeri ilmoitti Israelin komentopaikalle kello 20 300 kuolleesta (joukossa siviilejä), raportit tapoista jatkuivat läpi yön. Jotkut näistä raporteista välitettiin Israelin hallitukselle Tel Aviviin ja ne näki suuri joukko Israelin korkeimpia virkamiehiä.

Eräässä vaiheessa israelilainen upseeri kuuli falangistisotilaan kysyvän radiossa komentajaltaan Hobeikalta, että mitä tehdään lapsien ja naisten kanssa. Hobeika vastasi: "Tämä on viimeinen kerta kun kysyt minulta tuollaisen kysymyksen, sinä tiedät tarkalleen mitä pitää tehdä". Falangistijoukkojen kuultiin nauravan taustalla. Isralilainen upseeri raportoi kuulemastaan esimiehelleen kenraali Yaronille, joka varoitti Hobeikaa satuttamasta siviilejä, mutta ei tehnyt asialle sen enempää. Luutnantti Avi Grabowsky näki Kahanin komission mukaan viiden naisen ja lapsen murhan. Hän kertoi tästä pataljoonankomentajalleen, joka vastasi: "tiedämme, emme pidä siitä, mutta emme sekaannu asiaan". Visnewsin kameramies kuvasi Israelin joukkoja, jotka estivät leiristä verilöylyä pakenevia pakolaisia.

Perjantaina 16. syyskuuta leirien ollessa vielä suljettuna muutamien riippumattomien tarkkailijoiden onnistui livahtaa alueelle. Heidän joukossaan oli norjalainen lehtimies ja norjalainen diplomaatti, jotka tarkkailivat falangeja puhdistusoperaatiossaan näiden siirtäessä tapettuja ruumiita Shatilan leirin taloista.

Falangistit eivät lähteneet leireiltä kello 05 kuten oli pyydetty. He pakottivat jäljelle jääneet marssimaan ulos leireistä tappaen satunnaisesti yksittäisiä ihmisiä ja lähettäen muita kuulusteltaviksi, tätä jatkui koko päivän. Sotajoukko lähti leireistä kahdeksalta aamulla 18. syyskuuta. Ensimmäiset kansainväliset lehtimiehet pääsivät leireihin kello yhdeksän ja he löysivät satoja silvottuja ruumiita ympäri leiriä. Ensimmäiset viralliset uutiset verilöylystä lähetettiin puolenpäivän aikoihin.

Jumala on valinnut antaa meille Jeesuksen ja raamatun juutalaisten kautta. Israel on juutalaisten luvattu maa. Jeesus syntyi, kuoli ja suurimman osan elämästään asui Israelissa - joka tosin silloin oli Roomaa, mutta joka tapauksessa sama maa-alue on kyseessä.

Mutta mietipä sitä - Jeesuskin asui ja eli miehityksen alla. Rakennusmiehenä hän rakensi roomalaisille miehittäjille kaupunkia (Tzippori, Nasaretin pohjoispuolella), ja elätti sillä äitinsä ja nuoremmat sisaruksensa.

Hänellä on siis paljon yhteistä palestiinalaisten kanssa!

 Palestiinalaiset ovat uhreja ja välikappaleita sodassa, mutta eivät suinkaan Israelin vaan Israelin vihollisten. Heidät opetetaan jo lapsesta lähtien vihaamaan Israelia ja juutalaisia, he imevät sen vihan jo äidinmaidossa. Jopa asiaanperehtymättömät työkaverini ovat ottaneet asian puheeksi ja ihmetellen sanoneet, etteivät käsitä miten palestiinalaislasten annetaan heitellä kiviä ja provosoida sotilaita yms..He eivät ikinä antaisi lastensa olla sellaisessa mukana. Eli sitä saa mitä tilaa, jos ymmärrät. Sitä paitsi, jos asut Suomessa ja kuuntelet vain suomalaisia uutisia, niin sääliksi käy. Niukkaa, sensuroitua ja puolueellista, kepeätä jne on uutisanti siellä.

 Tule ulos tynnyristä !  Israelin viholliset lähettävät raketteja/missiilejä Israeliin ja käyvät räjäyttelemässä siviilejä.Ehkä voisit hakeutua Palestiinaan tarkkailijaksi, niin avartuu vähän todellisuus silmiesi eteen. Mutta älä osallistu heidän tekoihinsa. Liekö tämäkään kuvassa oleva lapsi muutakuin heidän itsensä surmaama (Israelin vihollisten).

FATAHIN vallankumousneuvosto kehotti palestiinalaisia kaikissa kaupungeissa järjestämään massamielenosoitukset 21. syyskuuta alkaen 12. 00 keskipäivällä ”sen kansallisessa taistelussa tukeakseen PA:n johdon YK:lle tekemää esitystä Palestiinan valtion perustamiseksi”. Kehotuksessa mielenosoituksia kuvataan ”poliittisiksi marsseiksi”.
FATAHIN edustajana Osama Qawashmeh kehotti palestiinalaisia kaikkialla ”omaksumaan luonnollisen ja kansallisen roolinsa tehdäkseen historiaa ja rakentaakseen tulevaisuutta maailman seuratessa Palestiinan valtion syntymistä”.
”PRESIDENTTI menee New Yorkiin pakolaisten, Jerusalemin, marttyyrien, vankien ja kansan toiveiden täyttymyksestä vapauteen ja itsenäisyyteen luotettuna edustajana”, hän selitti.

PA:n puheenjohtaja Mahmoud Abbas lensi maanantaiksi Kairoon, jossa hän osallistui arabiliiton kokoukseen. Siinä arabiliitto antoi viimeiset eväänsä Abbasille ennen matkaansa YK:n kokoukseen New Yorkissa, jossa hänen odotetaan esittelevän Fatahin laatiman valtioesityksen YK:n johdolle.

1:20 Israelista pakkosiirtolaisuuteen viedyt ottavat haltuunsa kanaanilaisten maat Sarpatiin asti, ja Jerusalemista Sefaradiin viedyt ottavat Negevin kaupungit.

 

 

1:21 Kaikki pelastuneet nousevat Siionin vuorelle ja hallitsevat myös Edomin vuoristoa. Kuninkuus on oleva Herran.
